Jonta vs Jira: cost and features for small teams
Jonta vs Jira for teams of 10 to 50: what each costs per month with a client portal, wiki and status updates, and which features each includes.
Quick answer
For a 20-person team that also needs a client portal, a wiki and status updates, the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management and Statuspage) costs about $415 a month at list prices. Jonta includes all of it for £80 a month flat. Under 10 users, Atlassian's free plans are hard to beat on price.
Jira is the default issue tracker for software teams, and for good reason. But "Jira" is rarely just Jira. Teams that support clients usually add a service desk, a wiki and something to post incident updates, and each one is priced separately.
This post compares the real monthly cost for small and mid-sized teams, then the features.
The cost, worked through
Atlassian list prices on monthly billing, checked 8 October 2026, Standard plans:
- Jira: $7.91 per user per month (free for up to 10 users)
- Confluence: about $6.40 per user per month (free for up to 10 users)
- Jira Service Management: $20 per agent per month (free for up to 3 agents)
- Statuspage: $29 a month (Hobby) or $99 (Startup)
| Team | Atlassian stack per month | Jonta per month |
|---|---|---|
| 5 people | $0 to $29 (free plans) | £0 (Free) |
| 10 people, 3 on support | $29 (about £22) | £80 (Pro) |
| 20 people, 5 on support | $415.20 (about £313) | £80 (Pro) |
| 50 people, 10 on support | $1,014.50 (about £765) | £80 (Pro) |
Pound figures use $1 = £0.7537 (7 October 2026). Atlassian bills UK customers in its own local price list, so treat them as a guide.
The honest reading: below about 10 people, Atlassian's free plans are excellent value and Jonta's advantage is having everything in one product, not price. From about 15 people upwards, per-user pricing across four products adds up quickly, and a flat £80 a month becomes a fraction of the cost. Paying yearly brings Jonta Pro down to £72 a month (£864 a year).

When Jira is the better choice
- You need a specific Marketplace app, or deep integration with other Atlassian products.
- You are a very large organisation with complex, cross-team portfolio planning.
- You have fewer than 10 people and don't need a client portal.
When Jonta is the better choice
- You support clients and want them in a portal, not in your inbox.
- You are paying for Jira, JSM, Confluence and a status page separately.
- You want the request, the code, the deployment and the release note on one ticket.
Switching without losing history
The usual reason not to move is years of history. Jonta's Jira import is free and keeps ticket numbers and dates, comments, changelogs, attachments, sprints, epics, custom fields and original authors, with dry runs before you switch. Confluence spaces come across with their page hierarchy and up to 25 recent versions per page. How migration works.
